冬至過後，各地氣候都將進入一個最寒冷的階段，也就是人們常說的“進九”。這兩天出門大家可要記得要添衣保暖以免感冒哦。今天我們來學習一下有關天氣寒冷的地道說法吧。

有些英文字看起來很簡單，其實很難用，因為中文裡找不到「對應字」（counterpart）。這些字夾在整個句子裡，聽得懂，但你從來不會這麼說。

It was a hard job, he took it though.（這工作很難，但他還是接受了）放在句尾，這個字的發音必須上揚。或是Somehow I don't like him.（不知怎麼地我就是不喜歡他。）

Though、somehow、anyway、nevertheless，這些字經常發生在口語上，看上去好像沒什麼意思，因為這關乎的比較是「口氣」的問題。

1. I’m a little edgy. edgy的意思是緊張，不耐煩。

相對於「perhaps」、「maybe」、「probably」「possibly」， 我們用英語表達「可能」時，似乎忽略了一個地道的用語 ──「likely」。「likely」是一個很好用的字，因為它變化多，加一個「un」在前，變成「unlikely」，加「quite」、「most」等字在前，又可加強減弱其程度，Not likely，意思是不行！這些都是「perhaps」、「maybe」、「probably」「possibly」不易達至的功能。


「likely」是形容詞，也是副詞。「likely」形容詞，用法：
The company is being forced to reduce staff and I fear I'm a likely candidate (for redundancy).
