Mary：Linda looks so pretty.
琳達看起來真是漂亮。

張：She really does. She often comes to chat with us.
她是很美。她經常會跑來跟我聊天。

Mary：She talks a lot. She can dish, too.
她話太多。
『一聽到dish這個字張小姐以為她是說琳達很會做菜。』

張：What do you mean?
你是指什麼？ 

Mary：She can say nasty things about people.
她會在背後說別人長短。

註：
Dish可以當動詞，把菜裝盤的意思但是也可以當挖苦批判。
She can dish it out, but she cannot take it.
表示她可以不在乎地批評別人卻無法忍受他人對她的批評。
She likes to dish out advice.
她喜歡沒完沒了提忠告。
