5. We have obtained his approval to use his car. 我們已經接獲他的許可使用這輛車。

6.  In his early days he abandoned medicine to literature. 他早年棄文學醫。

1. The dictionary is designed for foreign students.
design用作動詞除表示“設計”外，還可表示“計畫”、“打算”等，如：His father designed him for a lawyer.(他父親打算要他當律師)。這種用法經常以被動形式，如：The weekend party was designed to bring the investors together.(這次週末聚會的用意是要使投資人見面)。

2.  He deserves well of his boss.
deserve well (ill) of sb是個固定句型，意為“應該受到某人好的(不好的)待遇”。從語義上看，此處不能使用被動語態。

3. We really appreciated it when she offered to help.
其中的it不能省略，appreciate當及物動詞時候意思是欣賞，當不及物有另一個意思，是升值。

4.  He opened the door and admitted me into the house.
因 admit(讓...進入)已含有動態意味, 所以一般不與 enter, go in 之類的詞連用。

5.We have obtained his approval of our using his car.
approval後通常不接不定詞，若語義上需要，可用of doing sth。

6.In his early days he abandoned medicine for literature.
放棄某事而另從事某事，介系詞用for。

7. It’s not nearly so easy as you think.
英語習慣上不說not almost,另一方面, not nearly 是習慣用語，意為“遠遠不是”、“根本不像”等。又如：I can earn some money, but not nearly enough to live on.(我可以賺些錢，但遠遠不夠生活)。
